Mikey's Muse

March 21, 1997 Get It: 90 Vol. 1, No. 49

BROKEN?: It was one of those calls ... the one you don't wanna get ... it was wifey-poo ... she'd gotten the call from the school ... (she musta fixed the card 'cuz usually they'd call me ... like I can zip right home or somethin') ... #7 was doin' "Hoops for Hearts" ... a basketball contest for the American Heart Association ... he was grabbin' a rebound ... in the air ... ended up landin' full force on his knee ... he was writhin' on the floor so bad they called 911 ... she was headin' to the ER ... leavin' her office high 'n dry ... (later I was to learn it was a free lunch she was missin' that was causin' her such tension) ... I told her to call me when she found out what was goin' on ... finally I couldn't stand it anymore ... what kind of father 'n hubby was I? ... (besides I wanted to try out my new toy at home) ... on the ride home I was imaginin' the worst ... orhtopedic surgery ... crippled up for months ... I was goin' back over all the broken bones ... #1 broke his wrist when the soccer ball he was standin' on shot out from under 'im ... he set the standard for tellin' if somethin' was broken or not ... if ya didn't run half a block to your backyard then start rollin' 'round on the grass 'n screamin' it was prob'ly not broken ... #3 got tackled from behind while he was playin' soccer ... he's still workin' on gettin' the ankle to work ... he got a ride in an ambulance also ... now #7 ... uh oh ... does that mean #5 is next? ... I was beginnin' to see a pattern ... it was all my odd kids ... wait a minute ... that didn't come out right ... or did it? ... I guess the pig mobile was her bones ... then there was me 'n the pressure washer ... by the time I got to the hospital everything was taken care of ... #7 had his temporary cast on ... no breakage ... jes' serious bruisin' o' the knee cap ... wifey-poo was anxious to head back to her office ... to see if there were any leftovers ... I took our young victim home ...now he's diggin' in the closet for the family crutches! ... I wonder if we get our $5 donation back since he got broken?

CHANGE COMIN': I knew it was too good to be true ... I heard from a publisher of another Daily Muse ... I don't think it's put out daily by e-mail ... I think it's jes' put up on the Internet ... it's from around here too ... deals mostly with political satire on current events ... I wandered over 'n took a look at it ... it's pretty good ... been around since August of '95 ... you can check it out at http://www.cais.net/aschnedr/muse.htm ... they tol' me 'bout 'nother one at http://www.dailymuse.com/ ... it's a totally different concept all together ... we'll jes' have to come up with somethin' unique for our good times ... keep you're eye peeled.

SPEAKIN' O' PEELED: What does it mean when ya come home to a medical book opened to the section on hemorrhoids? ... an illustrated section at that ... nothin' like a little graphic education on the subject ... I guess wifey-poo's best friend's needin' a little sympathy ... I forgot to tell her that's the downside of eatin' burgers in the closet ... ya can't digest 'em right ... they come out in oversized chunks ... the strain's too much ... well ... you get the picture anyway ... if not ... maybe I can scan in the one that greeted me 'n pass it along!
