Web Page Building Resources

Free Home Pages

GeoCities Homesteading On The World Wide Web The price is right! You can set up your site in one of their fine neighborhoods. But, they are really popular and sometimes the server is kind of slow. If they were charging you could complain but they don't so we won't.

Graphics

3G on W3: The Great Globe Gallery Need a globe shot? If they don't have what you're looking for here then you'll just have to go up on the next shuttle and take your own!

Fefe's Transparency Page Want to make one of your .gif images have a transparent background? Then go to this site. You'll have to scroll down past all the languages to get to the English version (showing my US roots). This works very well.

Julianne's Background Textures Need a nice background pattern for you pages? You can probably find one that'll pass my scrutiny at Julianne's.

The Background Sampler Kindly provided by the folks at Netscape. An added feature, they invite you to actually "serve" the image from their place if you want. That's might generous of them, especially if you're "space" impaired.

Web-Counter Home Page It's a graphic if you use your imagination! The only trouble with this free counter stuff is that it isn't reliable. The server is so busy that it misses a lot of hits. But - you can buy one of their commercial counters (price is reasonable) if you need more accuracy. It'll do if you don't have an alternative.

How To

CenTrex Computer Services' Home Page Don't want to do it yourself? Then avail yourself of the services of Mr. Spafford and associates. He'll do you proud.

HTML Reference Manual One of my favorite references. This is an excellent source of information on HTML tags.

Internet Digest Now here's another way to get a lot of information. Plus he's famous.

webreference.com (TM) A good reference site for web authors.

Web Designer's Paradise Tons of goodies for a web author!

WebMaster: The Intranet Resource Center A marketing genius! Stay with the buzzword of the week. If it works why knock it! Intranet implementation is the biggest thing right now.

World Wide Web FAQ A FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), along with the frequently given answers, is an excellent way for you to find information about a subject. The only drawback is you'll have to spend some time reading! You can ignore FAQ's and wade right in to ask your questions wherever possible. You'll need a flameproof outfit but you'll certainly get responses. Pick your poison - reading or flames!

Yale C/AIM WWW Style Manual You really want to look professional? Then read (and follow) this manual. Top drawer stuff!

Validators

A Kinder, Gentler HTML Validator If you're really getting into this HTML stuff then you might want to run your code past this validator. It's a great humbler of the mighty! But it also helps you look like a pro when you publish your material.

InterNIC

InterNIC News Feel like getting REAL CLOSE to the Internet. This is where it all starts. This is a nice source of information about issues affecting the Internet.

Welcome to the InterNIC The home page of InterNIC. Only meaningful to the ultimate nerds (and marketing types that want to register a hot new domain name).
